In the 1970s,the research method of modern universal rationalism failed, and the research position of the famous American ethicist McIntyre(January 12,1929)was changed.McIntyre took the history as the leading factor, through the method of narrative, changed the moral research framework of modernity, changed the traditional moral culture research center to Aristotleism, and proposed the diversity of moral cultural traditions. This problem.McIntyre pointed out that the tradition of moral inquiry is reasonable and can have special abilities in solving moral dilemmas and responding to various moral challenges in society and life. With the development of time,McIntyre further developed his historical narrative method and turned it into a rational inquiry of the moral culture tradition and an observation of the individual moral practice. The two are dialectically unified relations.McIntyre's exploration and interpretation of the virtues opened up a new line for the study of virtue in later generations and other scholars, and laid the foundation for the development of moral theory in modern society and pointed out the direction.McIntyre's moral theory is based on his continuous research and observation of contemporary society, combined with Aristotle's outlook on nature, which is very contemporary and creative. He discovered the shortcomings and deficiencies of the moral philosophy of the past.By proposing new theories,he sought to destroy the wrong philosophical system and eventually opened up a new philosophical system.Subjective moral principles, people's emotions can not be objectively and rationally expressed,in his view, morality has fallen into a quagmire of serious disorder and chaos. Therefore,McIntyre's final conclusion is to return to the traditional meaning of virtue. He tried to overcome these differences and conflicts theoretically. In his opinion,"Virtue is an acquired human quality. The possession and practice of this virtue is the inner benefit that we can gain from practice.Without this virtue,we cannot obtain this benefit."McIntyre believes that each individual lives in a community and assumes certain social roles in the community.Only as a member of the community can one discover the goodness of the community and other groups or organizations,so that people can confirm Your own moral identity enhances your moral awareness. He also believes that the significance and role of virtue is to maintain the tradition and explore the development of morality from the historical significance.Through the analysis of the historical origin, development history and main contents of McIntyre's moral theory, this article explores its significance and enlightenment to the current Chinese social moral construction.
