English as a universal language is playing an important role under the background of economic globalization.As an important part of university teaching,college English has long been a phenomenon of "time-consuming and inefficient".It is of great significance to improve the quality and efficiency of college English teaching from the perspective of effective teaching.The investigation and study is based on definition and characteristics and influential factors of effective teaching in college English,taking H university as an example,learning about the current situation of effective English teaching by questionnaire survey method,teacher interview method and classroom observation method.Make the H University College English effective teaching survey questionnaire.By descriptive statistical analysis,it is obvious that the overall effectiveness of college English teachers teaching behaviors in various dimensions is not high enough,and the rankings from high to low in each dimension are as follows,effective use of multimedia,harmonious teacher-student relationship,scientific organization and comprehensive ability training,stimulate students' initiative,evaluation and reflection,teaching preparation and teaching objectives.Using analysis of variance,Girls' evaluation of teaching effectiveness is higher than that of boys' and teaching purpose has a significant influence on the effectiveness of teaching.Through the analysis of correlation,we know that the teaching objectives,teaching preparation,stimulating students' initiative,scientific organization,harmonious teacher-student relationship,evaluation and reflection,effective use of multimedia,comprehensive ability training are closely related with the effectiveness of the overall teaching.Main problems exist in Effective College English Teaching in H University.Effective teaching cognition of teachers needs to be improved,and teachers weaken their role as teaching facilitator.Teachers' effective teaching responsibility is insufficient and some teachers believe that teaching goal is only for the completion of teaching tasks.Teachers'effective teaching ability needs to be improved and the teaching methods and contents cannot be well adapted to the students' learning level.Teachers' awareness of teaching innovation is not enough and it cannot stimulate students' initiative in learning.The evaluation and feedback in teaching are insufficient and the role of formative assessment is weakened,and students' feedback on teaching cannot be collected in time.To give the corresponding countermeasures:First,change the effective teaching cognition of teachers.Teachers should set up the correct perspective of students and be the facilitator of students' learning,and schools should improve the teacher training system.Second,strengthen the sense of effective teaching responsibility.Teachers should clarify the connotation of teaching responsibility,and the school should optimize teachers' performance evaluation.Third,improve effective teaching ability.Teachers should stimulate their intrinsic motivation and pay attention to teaching reflection,and schools should provide training on how to improve the effective teaching ability.Fourth,improve teaching innovation.Teachers should break the mind-set of English teaching,the school should cultivate the innovative atmosphere of teaching and optimize the reward and punishment mechanism of teachers'teaching innovation ability.Fifth,pay attention to teaching evaluation and feedback.Teachers should pay attention to the formative evaluation and pay attention to students' feedback.
