A Simplr Analysis On The Jade Fish In Shang And Zhou Dynasties

Since the Neolithic age,there have been many excavated jade fishes in the Shang and Zhou dynasties,but there are few studies on the jade fish at that time.The author made a survey based on the current excavation data and related catalogues of incomplete statistics,there are about 1000 pieces of jade fishes excavated at the Shang and Zhou period and more than 650 pieces of them have image data.Among them,there are more than 360 pieces were excavated in Shang Dynasty and 200 pieces have image data.670 pieces were excavated in Zhou Dynasty and 430 pieces have image data.On the basis of this statistic data,this essay classifies and stages the jade fish of Shang Dynasty and Zhou Dynasty,also discusses the function and the meaning behind it.This paper is divided into 6 parts for writing.In the preface,the writing background and the research methods are briefly described.The first chapter is about the description of current research on jade fish.This chapter mainly introduce the jade fish in Shang Dynasty and Zhou Dynasty according to the excavation area and excavation time,also shows some statistics on the number of jade fish which the author collected as for now.At the same time,this essay comments and describes the history of researching the jade fish because the research on jade fish in the past is not deep enough.Chapter Two is mainly about the type analysis of the Jade fish specimen in the first chapter,and divides the fish into 4 type and 9 subtypes.This chapter is the first emphasis of this paper,the third chapter mainly discuss the functional use of jade fish based on this division.Chapter Three is mainly discuss about the application of jade fish.Combined with the division of the second chapter,this chapter will classify the excavated Jade fish into decoration category,funeral category and tools category and this chapter will apply the scenario analysis to analyze the jade fish which has more detailed information.This chapter is the second emphasis of this article.The fourth chapter discusses the meaning of jade fish with the literature and other excavated materials,especially advances some opinion on the combination with jade fish and jade bird.This kind of combination appeared in the pottery painting since the Neolithic age and shows clear embodiment in Han Dynasty's mural tomb so the the jade fish and Jade bird combination may have a certain relationship with it in Shang and Zhou Dynasty.The conclusion summarizes the general viewpoint of this thesis,and points out the deficiencies of this paper.
