The European migration crisis in 2015 has casted broad and long-term influence on Europe.By choosing the migration panel at the 2017 Brussels Economic Forum, the interpreter wishes to shed some light on the development of European migration issues, and more importantly,to discover the interpreter's problems in interpreting and make improvements accordingly. The topic seems familiar enough and there is no sign of complicated vocabulary used by the speaker, but the task is quite difficult in that the speakers lack clear logical progression in their speech development. The interpreter has to find the logical connections of ideas from disorganized languages very quickly.Based on the Triangle Model of the Interpretive Theory of Translation, the interpreter has categorized her problems in interpreting into the three stages. The Effort Model of consecutive interpreting by Daniel Gile is employed to help analyze the problems. The most obvious problems resulting from the speakers' lack of logical progression in speaking are literal interpretation and lack of logic in note-taking in de-verbalization stage and filled pauses, repetition and false starts in reformulation stage. In order to tackle this problem,a method of delaying note-taking is used by the interpreter during the de-verbalization stage.Omission, fuzzy interpretation and segmentation are tactics adopted in the reformulation stage.Through this interpreting task, the interpreter hopes that other fellow interpreters can be aware of the problems that can easily occur when there is an absence of logical coherence in the speaker's utterance and can borrow some of the tactics used by the interpreter in dealing with similar situations.
