This is a report on simulated interpreting practice, which is based on the science and technology documentary Network China by Chinese Academy of Sciences and Science Museum of China. The interpreter adopts the method of Chinese-English consecutive interpreting to simulate the scene of interpreting and find out the problems encountered in the process of interpreting.Corresponding strategies based on the interpretation theory are adopted.First, the report describes the preparatory phase, dividing the preparation into three parts: preparation of background knowledge, preparation of technical terms and preparation of note symbols. It shows the details of the author's work in each part.Problems are identified during the process of interpreting.Because of the different cultural background and mode of thinking among different nationalities, language expression is not the same.Chinese sentences emphasize parataxis but English sentences emphasize hypotaxis. Therefore,in the process of Chinese to English translation, some information can not correspond to each other. In the chapter of case analysis, under the guide of interpretive theory, interpreter adopts corresponding interpreting strategies to solve different problems. In order to solve the problems of incomplete sentence elements, interpreter adopts the passive voice to solve the problem of subject absence, and the problem of other incomplete elements of sentences is solved by using amplification. The redundancy of sentence information is solved by two strategies: omission and synthesization. In addition, under the guidance interpretive theory, interpreter uses the method of dividing sense group to deal with the problems of long sentences. Finally, the report analyzes and summarizes the limitations of the practice and draws lessons from it.The interpreter hopes this report can bring useful inspiration and reference for other interpreters.
