The "De-Dramatization" Tendency In Documentary

From the past to now,people are always talking about the boundary between "truth" and "fiction" when they are discussing documentary.However,there is a latent contradiction of "dramatization" exists in the debate between "truth" and "fiction".Today's world is entertainment supremacy,it seems that documentaries are increasingly plotting-oriented.The audience want to watch things that are not frequently seen in life but real,and the authors are keen to dig out the most novel characters or events and dramatize them.However,does the tendency of "dramatization" separate documentary from "physical fact" and make documentary lost its unique aesthetic characteristics,which is distinguished from the plot? If we choose “de-dramatization”,does it mean that documentaries only passively record reality without ideology transmission of subjects? Or mere accumulating materials by sacrificing the documentaries value of appreciation? This article will root in these questions,from ontological perspectives,untangle the application of dramatic concept in the documentary,and compare to the tendency of " de-dramatization" in other subjects.Based on the previous studies,combined with the author's creative and practical experience,this article aims to explore,judge and create more possibilities for documentaries.The article is divided into four chapters.The introduction chapter includes a simple explanation of the purpose and aim,delineates the scope of the study,untangles the present research status of the drama concept in documentaries,and explains the research methods.In the first chapter,“what is de-dramatization?”,the author will by defining the concept of de-dramatization and exploring its art origin in Western philosophy system,testify its necessity in art creationIn the second chapter,the author involves the idea of " de-dramatization " in the dimension of documentary,compares "de-dramatization” with “dramatization" in the scope of documentary,and untangles its appearance in the history of documentary to comprehend the concept of " de-dramatization " rather vividly.The chapter,"The appearance of de-dramatization in the documentary creation ",is discussed by five sections,"chaotic time and space","defamiliarization characters","narrative structure","narrative mode" and "shooting process",to examine how the concept of " de-dramatization" represented and occurs in documentary.It provides a more solid discussion for this article and theoretical support for future documentary creation.
