Research On Traditional Chinese Concerto Of Wang Jianmin

Since the second half of the 20 th Century,the quantity of the Chinese Traditional Concerto has increased year by year.Composers referenced Western composing techniques and the style of Western concerto,integrated them with Chinese traditional music elements.They combined our Chinese national musical instruments with Western orchestras or national orchestras.For years,composers' techniques and styles have become more and more capricious.Their practices have proved that there are more possibilities lying in the composition of Chinese Traditional Concertos,which at the same time shows the great realm and potential of Chinese Traditional Orchestras.The Chinese Traditional Concerto enriches the theoretical connotation of Solo concerto.Diverse manifestation and extensive space of the Chinese Traditional Concerto should be thoroughly explored to boost its progression.The composer,Mr.Wang Jianmin,has profound an influence in the field of Chinese Traditional Concerto.He earns reputation from home and abroad by his Chinese Traditional Concertos such as "Erhu Rhapsody(series)",Erhu Concerto "Fantasy Ballade" and Guzheng Concerto "Fengqiao Yebo".Mr.Wang Jianmin is not only conversant with composing techniques and genre of the Concerto,but also pays attention to absorbing the essence including diverse forms and unique Yunwei(Chinese word,lingering charm)from traditional Chinese music and Chinese folk music.In other words,Mr.Wang Jianmin inherits,preserves and develops the traditional Chinese music with raw materials from traditional Chinese music and Chinese folk music.He merges those materials and creates.Therefore,his works could meet people's developing aesthetic need.The uniqueness of Yunwei,could be seen in his works – in the structure,mode,rhythm and even performing techniques.In his Chinese Traditional Concerto,he fully exerts features like harmony,polyphony,timbre-acoustics.With deftly designed mode and tune,his works showed the counterbalance and unity between the presided instrument and the ensemble as well as his continuing exploration of performing techniques.Therefore,this dissertation digs deep into the three Concertos featuring different presided instruments,expounding and analyzing multiple composing levels such as ideas,themes,harmonic compositions,beats and rhythms,polyphonic arrangements,musical forms,and the unconventional tone.These analyses may help to clarify connotations,techniques,ideas and the unique Chinese Yunwei of the Chinese Traditional Concerto.
