As we all know,English is an international language,which is the most common language used as a communication tool in the world.Many countries list English as their second language in order to communicate better with other countries.There is no doubt that China is included.Vocabulary as the most fundamental component of language and plays an important role in communication.Therefore,senior high school English teaching should regards the vocabulary teaching as the basis and make the students understand the differences of vocabulary between Chinese and English culture.However,the current teacher's English vocabulary teaching in senior high school only pay attention to the words in the way of mechanical mnemonics,do not pay attention to lead students to learn and understand the differences of vocabulary between Chinese and English culture,which causes the students cannot use proper words in different contexts,and even lead to cultural conflicts.Based on the theories of cultural dimension,differential culture and high and low context,this study explores the important influence of differences of vocabulary between Chinese and English culture on English words application in senior high school.The aim is to improve students' interest and understanding in vocabulary learning.The thesis tries to solve the following three problems:(1)What is the current situation of high school students' understanding of the differences of vocabulary between Chinese and English culture?(2)What is the influence of learning the differences of vocabulary between Chinese and English culture on English words application in senior high school?(3)What is the efficient way to teach the differences of vocabulary between Chinese and English culture during teaching process.From September 1st 2017 to December 1st 2017,94 students from two parallel classes in grade one of a Middle School in Dalian are selected as subjects.The experiment lasts for 12 weeks.Class 1 of the two parallel classes acts as the experimental class and class 11 as the control class.Research tools include tests,questionnaires and interviews.All data are analyzed by using qualitative and quantitative methods with the help of SPSS 19.0 system.The results show that understanding of the vocabulary differences between Chinese and English culture can promote the acquisition of English vocabulary,enable students to correctly identify and use the correct vocabulary,and which plays a significant role in the improvement of English writing ability.Therefore,it is feasible to teach the differences of vocabulary between Chinese and English culture in English vocabulary teaching.Finally,the thesis discusses the enlightenment and suggestion of the research,hoping to enlighten the students,teachers' teaching and other people's research.
