This study applies the driving skill self-assessment scale to the Chinese driver population, revise the Chinese version of the driving skill self-assessment scale, and classifies the driving skills to understand the driver's grasp of various driving skills. Also, study the relationship between driving skills and accident propensity.Study 1: Revision of the Driving Skills Self-Assessment Scale.A total of 658 driving skills assessment scales were issued online and offline. The candidates were selected from all over the country and 616 valid questionnaires were retrieved. The conclusions of the study are as follows:(1)The revised scale has a total of 16 topics, which are divided into two dimensions: vehicle control skills and risk perception skills. The revised Driving Energy Assessment Scale is an effective tool for measuring the driving skills of our drivers.(2)The internal consistency coefficient of driving skills self-assessment scale is 0.91,and the internal consistency coefficient of each dimension is above 0.85.The correlation coefficient between the dimensions of the self-assessment of driving skills self-assessment scale and the total score of the scale was between 0.66 and 0.91,all with p<0.001.It can be seen that the Chinese version of the driving skill self-assessment scale has a better result in the structural validity of the model fitting degree.Study 2: Study the relationship between driving skills and accident propensity.Through online surveys and random household surveys,a total of 422 Chinese driving skills self-assessment questionnaires were issued and 408 were recovered. The findings are as follows:(1)For demographic factors, gender is not significantly related to car control skills and hazard perception skills;age is significantly related to car control skills and hazard perception skills;driving experience(including driving age and driving mileage)and car control skills and risks Perceived skills were significantly related;educational attainment was significantly associated with car control and hazard perception skills;driving frequency was significantly associated with car control and hazard perception skills.(2)For driving skills, vehicle control skills and hazard awareness skills are all significantly associated with accident propensity.(3)The main effects of various demographic factors and different kinds of driving skills can fully explain and explain the 78.4% variation in accident propensity. In summary, the Chinese driving skill scale has high reliability and validity. Therefore,it can be used as an effective tool to explore and quantify the driving skills of our drivers. Moreover,it is inferred that the driver's driving skills have an important influence on his accident propensity.
