The own age effect of face recognition is the interaction between memory age and face age, resulting in the recognition rate of face recognition for the own age is higher than that of different age faces. There are some theories can figure out this phenomenon, for example overgeneralization hypothesis, theory of Multidimensional space theory,in group/out group model IOM,and Categorization Individuation Model, but no consensus has been reached.According to the purpose of the study, this study used three experiments to explore the own age effect and influencing factors of 5-year-old Children's Face Recognition. In Experiment 1,a standard recognition paradigm was used.47 children were selected as test subjects and standard face photographs were used as experimental materials to verify whether 5-year-old children had the own-age effect. On the basis of experiment 1,the experimental materials were changed to half-length photos to explore the experiment 2.Whether the change in materials affects the generation of children's own-age effects or not;Experiment 3 used 90 5-year-old children as subjects to investigate whether the three coding task requirements(attractiveness evaluation, face age classification, conscious minding)affect the assessment of the own age effects. The experimental results show that:(1))Using the standard recognition experiment paradigm,it was verified that 5-year-old children do not have the ownage effect of face recognition, and there is an “Grandparents effect” that has the highest discriminatory power for older faces. In recognizing achievements, the children's discrimination of the photo group of the elderly is the best, and the youth photo group of the child photo group is the worst. The five-year-old children had significantly higher discriminative power in the older group than the young group, and there was a difference but not a significant difference from the children's photo group discrimination.(2)The experimental materials affected the recognition of five-year-old children's face photographs, and the phenomenon of own-age effects was not used due to the use of half-length photo-experiment materials.(3)Coding tasks have different effects on the own age effect assessment of 5-year-old children. No own age effect was found under the attraction coding task, but children had the best scores for peer-reviewed photographs;age classification and conscious mind coded task participants' face material for children.Recognition is in the middle of the score, verifying the age-identifying effects of 5-year-olds' face recognition, among which children in the age-classification task have the best discrimination of the youth-group photos;consciously, the 5-year-old children under the task have the highest discernment of the older-group photos.
