| The relationship between emotion and cognition has always been a hot issue in the field of psychology research.Among them, the influence of emotion on memory has been given numerous empirical results, but the complex mechanism of emotion has put the traditional cognitive method into a dilemma. The appearance of embodied emotion makes up for this deficiency, and takes the body into the cognitive framework as a whole, and thinks that the body also plays an important role in the processing and storage of information, providing a new perspective for the study of emotion and memory. And emotional faces as the most common emotional stimuli in daily life, how to quickly read and recognize the emotions of others’ faces,is of great significance to the social life of individuals.Based on the view of embodied emotion, this study explores the influence of embodied emotion on the recognition of emotional faces on the basis of previous studies. In order to explore the emotional congruent effect、gender stereotyping effect on facial recognition, and the different influence of embodied emotion on the encoding and extraction stage, design experiment 1 and experiment 2.The main purpose of experiment 1 is to explore the effect of emotional congruent effect and gender stereotyping effect.120 visual material is chosen from Chinese emotional face pictures, and the subjects are 80 female college students. In the experiment, the subjects are divided into positive and negative emotional groups, then the experimenter use facial muscle control to induce the embodied emotion of the subjects, and use change detection paradigm to make the participants recognize the emotional faces.so that researchers can investigate the effects of different embodied emotion on the reaction time and accuracy of emotional face recognition. On the basis of experiment 1,the experiment 2 is carried out to further explore whether the emotional congruent effect mainly occurs in the coding stage or the extraction stage of the memory process. The subjects are 80 female college students, presented materials are also from Chinese emotional face pictures, and the simple rerecognition paradigm is used to make the participants recognize the emotional faces. In the experiment, the subjects are divided into four groups: coding-positive emotional group,coding-negative emotional group,extraction-positive emotional group,extraction-negative emotional group. The researchers manipulate the different time periods of the subjects’ embodied emotion to investigate whether the influence of embodied emotion on memory occurred in the coding stage or the extraction stage.Research findings:(1)The embodied emotion affects the individual’s recognition performance of the emotional faces, and the positive emotional group responds to the positive emotional faces more quickly and with higher accuracy; The negative emotional group is more accurate with negative emotional faces, but there is no significant difference in response time,so there is some emotional congruent effect.(2)The influence of embodied emotion on the face recognition memory mainly occurred in the extraction stage, and the subjects in extraction group were better at recognizing faces with consistent emotional valence, and there was no significant difference in recognition performance of positive and negative emotional faces in the coding group.(3)The gender main-effect of emotional faces is significant, the response to images of female faces is faster than that of male faces.(4)As an emotional paradigm, facial muscle control can effectively induce the embodied emotions of the subjects, and will not be perceived by the individual consciousness. |
