In the 1960 s,Frank’s Man’s Searching for Meaning formally introduced the meaning in life into the field of psychology.Since then,it has received widespread attention from psychologists at home and abroad,especially in recent years.With the rise of positive psychology,the meaning in life as one of the important contents has attracted the psychologists’ attention.The university stage is a golden period for individual’s physical and mental development and ability exercise.It is also a reserve period for the college students to move towards society and achieve their value of life.Therefore,it is very important to understand and improve the meaning in life of college students during this period.At the same time,this date is also an important period for the individual’s basic psychological needs to be met.They need to the right to choose independently,establish their own relationships,and reflect their own abilities and values.At the university level,they need to constantly correct their understanding of the self and gradually improve their self-concept in the process.This study will sort out the following concepts: the first is the basic psychological needs,the second is the self-concept,and the third is the meaning in life,and on this basis,a total of 600 college students at Xuchang College are the objects of study.Basic psychological needs scales,Wallace self-concept scales,and the Purpose in life Test are used for empirical research,finally,the data was analyzed using SPSS 21.0.Draw the following consequences:1.The meaning in life of college students is in the middle-upper level,which indicates that the university student’ sense of life is in good condition.2.The basic psychological needs of college students are in the middle-lower level,which indicates that college students’ basic psychological needs are less satisfied.3.The self-concept of college students is in the middle-upper level,which indicates that the self-concept of college students is overall positive.4.There is a significant difference in the meaning in life of college students at the grade and in the professional schooling,but there is no significant difference in gender,family location,and whether or not the student cadre.5.The basic psychological needs of college students,self-concept and the meaning in life are significantly related to each other.The basic psychological needs have a significant predictive effect on the meaning in life and self-concept,and self-concept has a significant predictive effect on the meaning in life.And all three predictions are positive.6.The basic psychology needs to influence the meaning in life through self-concept,and the self-concept plays a partial intermediary role between the basic psychological needs and the meaning in life.
