The Translation Of Ecological Terminology

The author selects material of the Journal of Integrative Environmental Sciences,a translation project that participated in,as the supporting analysis materials.This source text,which belongs to a special project of international science and technology cooperation in the Ministry of Science and Technology,called a 'Study on Methane Absorption and Detection Technology Cooperation of Forest and Soil in Nanling',is a composition of academic papers concerned with Global Climate Change Conference in 2010 and in 2014,and presents the latest research on greenhouse gases.This work consists of 30 papers involving some problems and solutions of greenhouse gases,with a total of 380,000 Chinese characters,and the author finishes about 90,000 words of translation.The paper takes the form of a translation practice report.The author focuses on the difficulties for translation and in particular the treatment of ecological terminology in the source text.According to the features of ecological terminology in the text,the author analyzes the ecological terminology from derivation,abbreviation and compounding.Combining the principles of translation terminology,the author selects four kinds of treatment methods of ecological terminology,including zero translation,"matching equivalents",conversion and semantic selection.Finally,the inadequacies and shortcomings in the translation process are summarized in the final part of this paper.The author then concludes the translation experience in the hope of providing some beneficial references for the future research and practice of the translation of ecological science and technology texts.
