Adjective reduplication is one of the most distinctive and interesting features of Chinese language,and also constitutes one of the most important parts of Chinese grammar.Many scholars had established researches on this point from linguistics,comparative and educational fields and concluded the importance of AA form and AABB form of adjective reduplication to the TCSOL.However,it had been noticed that Malagasy students,especially at the first stage of their learning,encountered great difficulty to assimilate the patterns and the specificity of the Chinese adjective reduplication because of the similarities between the languages which might sometimes mislead the students to many errors,even during later stage of their education.It is then,crucial to investigate on the common errors by Malagasy students for a better understanding of the process of learning of adjective reduplication and to improve the teaching methodologies.Through analyses of previous researches of the errors researches of adjective reduplication,the present paper investigates on the influence of mother tongue to the process of learning Chinese adjective reduplication.Through analyzes of the theoretical papers about the Chinese and Malagasy reduplication thi's paper introduces the specificity of Chinese and Malagasy adjective reduplication and identifies the similarities and differences between the two languages for a better understanding of the errors.Through an investigation tests on Malagasy overseas students,the present paper identifies the common errors by Malagasy students and try to provide an plausible explanation and some advice to improve the teaching.The present paper is divided into four parts.The first part is to introduce to the importance of this topic and the research background and methodology.The second part is allocated to the analysis of the specificity of the Chinese adjective reduplication followed by a brief comparison with its Malagasy language counterpart.The third part is mainly about the analysis of the data collected to identify the common errors and the reasons of those errors.The fourth part is to bring out some advice about the teaching process of the Chinese adjective reduplication.
