This thesis discusses the practical processes of Wang anyi's novellas,analyzing changes of her narrative patterns,and varying thinking on history and literature.Simultaneously,this thesis reflects on the completion of “self-confirmatory with literature” and the “transformation of modernity” with the novel in an ever-changing modern society,and heuristic effect of Wang anyi's ideas and practices on Female literature.In summary,the empirical process of wang anyi demonstrates the breakout of manipulation and regulation of“totality”,from her point of view as a marginal figure.The first chapter,introduction explains the connotation of ideas named “Fighting against the names” ? “Pursuing essence”,clarifying the research scope of “Female literature”.It also reviews current researches on Wang anyi for constructing the main argument.The second chapter discusses the changes of novellas' arrative methods.The transitions from abstract deductive to linear narrative,then to non-linear narrative demonstrate the changeable trend of wang anyi from holistic views of history to the historical concept of postmodernism.The third chapter analyzes the process of establishing the personal “literary space”.The transitions from isolated personal experience,to consensus experience,then to reborned personal experience show that wang anyi is trying to fight against the “names' control”and to find the true feelings.The fourth chapter discusses wang anyi's cognitive process of modern women based on her empirical object.The binary influences from western civilization and traditional Chinese women's identity illustrate her contradictoriness in the modern context and social reality.
