In recent years,with the continuous development of China's economy and the ever-increasing international status,the upsurge of learning Chinese in the world has risen higher than that of our neighboring country,India.The author was fortunate enough to serve as a Chinese volunteer teacher in Tamil Nadu,South India.During the past half a year or more in India,I have experienced the Chinese language boom in India.On the other hand,I have also seen the current situation and problems in the teaching of Chinese in the south.The author facilitates the use of work,through observation,and conducts a large number of interviews and questionnaires to make relevant descriptions and descriptions of the state of Chinese teaching in two southern Indian states.There has been a long history of Chinese teaching in southern India,but no one has been investigating their development and current situation.The author conducted interviews and questionnaire surveys with five universities and five social education institutions that set up Chinese language classes in three southern states.The status quo of southern Chinese teaching includes the number of Chinese teachers,whether Chinese teachers graduate professionally,the number of Chinese learners,and the way students learn,and so on.The data can be used to visualize the teaching of Chinese in the south.At the same time,based on the analysis of interviews and questionnaires,we pointed out the problems in Chinese teaching and proposed solutions from the perspective of the Confucius Institute on teachers,textbooks,teaching methods,etc.,with a view to teaching Chinese in southern India and even India.In general,both the teaching of Chinese in India as a whole and the teaching of Chinese in southern India are progressing in a good direction.However,the problems and deficiencies in development cannot be ignored.This requires long-term attention from relevant personnel.Need to propose effective solutions and put them into action.
