| In recent years, with the increase of human activities and the expansion of activities, human behavior and decision-making have had a major impact on nature and society. With public crisis events occurring more and more frequently,it is important to strengthen crisis communication because effective crisis communication can move from crisis to opportunities. However, domestic research on crisis communication is relatively less than that of Western countries. Therefore,it is of great practical significance to translate the materials of crisis communication. This translation report is written based on the translation of Chapter One of Effective Crisis Communication: Moving from Crisis to Opportunity authored by Timonthy L.Sellnow,Robert R.Ulmer and Matthew W.Seeger.This book mainly summarizes effective crisis communication lessons and describes opportunities brought by crisis. The selected chapter mainly introduces the definitions, characteristics and types of crisis, and the background and theories of crisis communication as well. The report falls into four main parts.Part One is a general description of the translation task, which includes the source, introduction and significance of the translation material.Part Two is about the translation procedures, which cover pre-translation preparation, the selection of translation method, the difficulties solved in the first draft, proofreading and the finalizing of the whole text.Part Three is the core of the report, using cases to elaborate on the translation difficulties from three levels including vocabulary, syntax and discourse. It mainly analyzes some examples to consolidate relevant knowledge and improve translation skills. And Part Four concludes the inspirations and gains obtained from this practice, indicating the direction of future endeavor. |
