Teacher efficacy plays a more important role in teachers' self-development,which reflects the initiative and creativity of teachers in education activity.However,by comparing related studies at home and abroad,the author find out that research investigating teacher efficacy of business English teacher at home are insufficient.Therefore,this study will modify the Science Teaching Efficacy Belief Instrument(Riggs,1988)according to the characteristics of business English teacher,using quantitative analysis method to investigate Business English teachers' sense of efficacy.The author of this thesis attempts to answer the following questions:(1)What is the overall level of business English teachers' sense of efficacy?(2)Is there significant difference in teacher efficacy among,business.English teachers with different gender,duty station,age,positional title,educational background,years of teaching,teaching courses and training experience?Data analyses show:1.The overall level of business English teachers' sense of efficacy is generally high,and the level of teachers' personal teaching efficacy belief is higher than their teaching outcome expectancy level;2.There is no significant difference in business English teachers' teacher efficacy level in terms of gender,duty station,training experience(normal education)and teaching courses;3.There are significant differences in business English teachers' teacher efficacy level in terms of age,professional title,educational background and teaching years.In addition,there is correlation between teacher efficacy and the.se four factors.Thus these factors can be considered as the main influencing factors of business English teachers' teacher efficacy level;4.According to the average score of the option,business English teachers have relatively low confidence in their Business English knowledge as well as their ability to guide Business practice.In order to enhance business English teachers' teacher ability,according to the 102 business English teachers' responses on how to enhance teachers' positive belief,this paper puts forward some suggestions in order to encourage business English teachers to improve their level of teacher efficacy.
