With the increase of the number of art students,as a special group of students,the English learning situation of art students has also attracted people's attention.In recent years,there are more and more studies on the art students' learning.Many researchers focus on the differences between art students and ordinary high school students,such as their learning motivations,learning attitudes and personalities.However,few researchers pay attention to the classroom activities.In English teaching,reading teaching is very important.Reading provides the basis for mastering other skills,such as listening,speaking and writing.Classroom activities are significant means to master these language skills and achieve teaching goals.How to improve the efficiency of reading teaching through the improvement of classroom activities is the basis of this paper.Based on the output theory,input theory and schema theory,this study has investigated and analyzed the classroom activities of English reading class in art high school by means of questionnaire,interview and classroom teaching observation.First of all,the students and teachers are investigated and interviewed respectively in order to understand the implementation of classroom activities in English reading classes.The questionnaire,which is for students,is a survey on the forms and types of classroom activities in senior high school English reading classes,and the students' attitude towards classroom activities.Teacher interview is used to analyze the relevant issues involved in the process of the classroom activities from the design to the implementation.Secondly,it can be learned that the specific implementation of classroom activities in English reading teaching in art high school by the means of class observation.Finally,the author analyzes the students' participation in various types of classroom activities.Through the above investigation and analysis,the following findings are obtained by this study.1.The types of classroom activities commonly used in English reading class in art high school.Before reading,teachers often use linguistic schema to clear up students' reading barriers.The commonly used activities at this stage are mainly the display of the pictures and other multimedia resources,as well as the review of the related words.During the process of reading,teachers will use a large number of productive activities to guide students to understand the reading text.The activity of this stage is mainly through different reading methods to complete the exercises.At the stage of post reading,classroom activities focus on the consolidation of students' language knowledge.The common activities include retelling the text and the teaching of language points.2.The types of classroom activities and the reasons for students' high participation in classroom activities.Usually,students' participation in passive activities and receptive activities is high.Art students are biased in written expression and are auditory learners,they tend to accept information.Most students are field dependent learners.In the process of learning,they prefer to complete the activities with specific goals and instructions.In addition,based on the results of the study,the researcher puts forward a suggestion for setting up the classroom activities of English reading class in art high School.Before the class,the teacher can give a proper explanation of the teaching objectives of this class.Except the traditional oral expression,some ways of expression in writing can be added to the class to let students express their ideas in a comfort and free environment.At last,some limitations and suggestions for further study have been put forward in the thesis.
