The Study Of Functional Narratives In Journey To The West

Ancient novels have always attracted much public attention and researchers’ attention.As one of the "Four Famous Writings",Journey to the West naturally attracts academic attention with its unique artistic charm.In recent years,the research craze of novels in Ming and Qing Dynasties continues to emerge,but many researches are influenced by Western narratology theories.There is still much room for exploration and research on the narrative features of novels in Ming and Qing dynasties.However,The narrative study of other classic novels is relatively weak.Taken together,this dissertation focuses on the discussion of "functional" narration in Journey to the West.The "functional narrative" studied in this paper refers to a kind of narrative phenomenon recurring or contrary to the truth in novels,which is the specific narration of the related narrative elements by the novel authors for their specific functional needs.This article analyzes different manifestations of the functional narrative of Journey to the West from four aspects of functional scene narration,functional object narration,functional auditory narration and functional illustration narration,and improves people ’s understanding of "functional narrative".From the taste of "Journey to the West" is not the same charm of narrative,and then explores the original appearance of ancient novel stylistic features and narrative traditions.
