| Due to economic globalization and cultural integration, communications between the nations of the world are getting increasingly important. At present, since China is establishing her image in the world community, international conferences and the press conferences of NPC and CPPCC become good platforms for people in different countries to understand China’s foreign policy, international position and domestic development. At such meetings, speakers tend to use culturally-loaded words to describe the situation and the future development of this country.Culturally-loaded words usually carry special cultural connotations. Therefore, translation of them is a great challenge to the interpreter. This study is based on Professor Hu Gengshen’s ecological translation theory, especially the concepts of Multi-dimensional adaption and selection.According to the theory, interpreters are the center of interpreting activities, who are required to adapt to the language environment and deal with the interpretation of culturally-loaded words from the following dimensions:language, communication and culture. In this thesis, the national press conferences are used as the example to study the translation tactics, and it applies the theory of Eco-Translatology to case study, aiming at providing a theoretical framework for the interpretation of the culturally-loaded words used in conferences.Hopefully, this thesis may also help interpreters by proposing possible strategies in practice. |
