"Jardins sous la pluie" is the third piece of "Estampes" created by the French composer and pianist Achille-Claude Debussy(1862-1918).in this movement,the composer breaks the limitations of traditional composing techniques such as the major and minor functional chord,making the work a distinctive feature of impressionism music.Furthermore,it uses French folk music as musical materials,endowing the masterpiece with prominent ethnic characteristics.This paper here introduces the background of this masterpiece,and expounds the significant place of Debussy's piano ensemble "Estampes" in impressionism music."Jardins sous la pluie",one of the outstanding pieces of work included in "Estampes”,fully embodies the author's impressionism music style.Having explored the deeper meaning of French folk songs material application in"Jardins sous la pluie" and analyzed three different views of the folk songs material,this paper here proves the correctness of the second opinion that the French folk songs are "Dodo,l'enfant do" and "Nous n'irons plus au bois".This paper further analyzes the layout and display of French folk songs materials in "Jardins sous la pluie" and explores the significance of the materials to musical performance of works from the perspective of piano performance.Furthermore,this paper points out how pianist handles his performance and his interpretation of "Jardins sous la pluie" when creating the second edition via piano.
