| PPT(PowerPoint)refers to a series of slide text produced by the Microsoft software,using the means of visualizing thoughts to combine information carriers that demonstrates correlative viewpoints in a certain logical order.As a visual assistant and auto-showing tool,PPT slides are widely applied in business presentation,training,education,publicity and other fields.Generally,it serves two purposes:a visual aid supporting an oral presentation,and a stand-alone deliverable reporting the results or conclusion of a project.This thesis summarizes the feature of the PPT texts from the perspective of content and structure,including the extensive use of bullet points and graphs,as well as the complex logical relation,and further discusses how PPT use its words and logic to convey information to the audience.Based on problems in the process of translating,adjustments should be accordingly made by translators.This report consists of five chapters.The first chapter is an introduction;the second chapter introduces translation tasks,focusing on the background of the background and textual features of the source text,as well as the occasion on which it will be applied;chapters three and four sum up problems encountered in the translation process,and discuss the translation skills applied through concrete examples;the fifth chapter serves as the conclusive part of the thesis.This thesis,based on the translation practice of industrial analysis report,aims to explore how business PPT text expresses content and conveys information through its contend and logic.The paper proposes some translation strategies for PPT slides texts focusing on accurate understanding,reasonable output,and efficient communication.Specifically,these strategies include focusing on overall translation style,emphasizing on logic flow,regarding the whole PPT slides deck as one translation unit,paying attention to the translation of the graph elements,and making use of software tools such as Excel to simplify the translation process. |
