A Research On Yin Shidan And His Literature

Yin Shidan was one of the most important politicians when Emperor Jiajing and Emperor Longqing were successively in power during Ming Dynasty.Besides,he was bosom friend of Li Panlong,the leader of The Latter Seven Masters.At the same time,he was also a writer of poem and prose,so doing a research on Yin Shidan and his literature helps better understand political situation,know more about Yin Shidan' s literary achievement and deeper explore the historical culture of Jinan City.This article is divided into four chapters,studying Yin Shidan' s life,his social intercourse,literary achievements and his role in literary history.The first chapter will study Yin Shidan' s family background,his life and his thought,which helps us to fully understand him.Studying Yin Shidan' s family background can contribute to illustrate how Yin Family migrated from Wuding to Licheng and how his family positively influnced Yin Shidan through studying The Book of Rites.By dividing Yin Shidan' s life into four stage,attending school,being an official in Hanlinyuan for about twenty years,being the Minister of Rituals and being back home in Jinan,this article tries to expain the important events during Yin Shi dan' s whole life.Through close—reading,this article also attmeps to state Yin Shidan' s attitude towards Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism.The second chapter is to examine Yin Shidan' s social intercourse.The politicians who kept good relationship with Yin Shidan include cabinet minister Zhang Juzheng,Zhao Zhenji and Chen Yiqin,and also magistrate Qi Jiguang,Liu Zongdai and etc.Besides,Yin Shidan was familiar with reversionary writers like Li Panlong,Wang Shizhen and Wang Daokun.This article will illustrate the relationship between Yin Shidan and other politicians and also the relationship between Yin Shidan and other writers,and will analyse their writtings back and forth.The third chapter is to comprehensively analyze Yin Shidan's writings and his literary achievements.This chapter first provides a brief introduction about Yin Shidan' s writings handed down and writings lost,and then illustrates his writings respectively by peoms,Sanqu and prose,while analyzing his writings' artistic characteristics.Yin Shidan was good at writing both Gushi and modern style poetry,and his poems can be divided into farewell poems,chanting poems&poems about paintings and poems abut reciting feelings these three types.His Sanqu intends to express his happiness of banquet with friends and his pleasure when enjoying landscape and countryside.His prose contains many different types,like letter,preface,epitaph and etc,which achieve very high accomplishments.The fourth chapter intends to study Yin Shidan' s position in the Restorative Trend of Ming Dynasty.On the one hand,this chapter will examine Yin Shidan's acceptance of Li Panlong' s restorative idea by comparing their literary theory.On the other hand,the article will analyze how Yin Shidan contributed to spread Li Panlong' s restorative idea,thus outlining a possible clue of how the restorative thoughts influenced the Taige Literature.
