Although there is no distinctive characteristic and style in Taigeti style of Ming Dynasty,but as the normative and official form of calligraphy in the social life of the Ming Dynasty,Taigeti style is also characterized by the distinctive social,political and cultural background and meaning,and owning to be orthodox,Taigeti style had a very far-reaching influence on the aesthetic appreciation of calligraphy and pragmatic writing at that time.This paper makes a study on Taigeti style of the Ming Dynasty,attempts to show the background of history and culture that Taigeti style is the official form of calligraphy,the main calligraphers and their representative works through diachronic and synchronic investigation and assurance in history of calligraphy,and probes into the feature and influence of Taigeti style of the Ming Dynasty from different perspectives.There are four chapters in this paper.Chapter one is mainly about the evolution and development of Taigeti style,discusses the inheritance and transformation of calligraphy under the influence of official culture in different ages,and analyzes the concept of Taigeti style as well as its development background.Chapter two is to define the feature of Taigeti style in order to clarify the characteristic of writing technique,font selection and style requirements.Chapter three shows the representative calligraphers of Taigeti style of the Ming Dynasty in different times and the appreciation of style of their works.Meanwhile,compared with contemporary calligraphy that is not Taigeti style,it aims to show the difference of style of calligraphy under different aesthetic views and mental state.Chapter four probes into the meaning that Taigeti style advocates the rule of calligraphy and stresses elegance in history of calligraphy,and introduces the inspiration and reflection of Taigeti style in calligraphy learning.
