Drama is a brilliant pearl of literary expression.Numerous excellent drama works have been coming into the public in various countries,so the requirements for drama translation have been increasing.With the rapid development of computer-assisted translation(CAT)technology,the quality and efficiency of translation has been greatly improved,and the research on the practice of CAT has been paid much attention to.Therefore,the author sets Fifth of July,written by Lanford Wilson,as research object,using computer-assisted translation(CAT)software to improve the translation quality and efficiency.The author believes a good drama translation should not only express the meaning of the source text,but also focus on the performablity of the dramatic text and produce the cultural connotation so that the audiences of target language are able to grasp.Drama translation is rewriting or recreation on the basis of the original text,not just correspondence or equivalence of the source text.This article will give a brief introduction about Lanford Wilson and his work,Fifth of July.The whole process of translation tasks will be expounded.The techniques of CAT will be briefly introduced.The report will indicate the practicability and limitation of CAT in the translation practice,and the advantages and disadvantages of CAT in the process will be illustrated with examples.The report will point out the cultural domestication and foreignization,emphasize the stagecraft and colloquial language,and analyze these key issues under the guidance of domestic and foreign theories by a way of illustrations.Finally,we conclude the summary of this translation practice.
