Research On The Construction Of Chinese "Humorous Literature"

The emergence of Humorous Literature added a heavy color to Chinese literary circles in the 1930s,and owing to its own controversy and far-reaching influence,it has promoted the appearance of many academic achievements.However,being confined to concepts,methods and materials,there is still much room for discussion on "The construction of Chinese Humorous Literature".Previous studies are mostly limited to certain humorous journal,writer(groups),or works,and obviously bear the stamp of thematic interpretation.In view of this,the thesis tries to penetrate into the practical level of the specific lierature.By means of the study of original documents and the use of new materials,the production,debate and influence of Chinese Humorous Literature are dynamicly examined and analyzed in detail,and then we may obtain a more objective understanding and evaluation of the achievements and limitations of this historical event.The thesis consists of six sections,including an introduction,four chapters of the body,and a conclusion.The introduction part reviews and combs the current research status of the domestic and foreign academic circles,introduces the significance and innovation point of this thesis,and defines the scope of the research.Taking into account the key role played by Lin Yutang in the construction of Humorous Literature.the thesis will mainly focus on Lin Yutang's literary practice.The first chapter introduces the situation of "humor" entering China in the form of key articles analysis,and summarizes the core essentials of the concept of "humor"centering on Lin Yutang's expression.Secondly,the author applies the study of Shi yuan to analyze the basic literature used by Chinese writers and examines its origin.The second chapter takes the practice of Lin Yutang's publication as an example,discusses the text construction of Humorous Literature through three aspects:learning western humor,excavating native humor and making use of current events humorously.For one thing,the construction of Humorous Literature depended on the cultivation and guidance of western humorous works.For another,it was also inseparable from the reinterpretation of Chinese Classical Literature and the discovery or shaping of Chinese Humorist.The humor of current news could be regarded as lawful resistance to the ruling authorities,but the criticism on the whole belonged to internal criticism of the system and did not involve the core of the system and the noumenon of power.The third chapter takes "laughter" as the main thread.By way of a contrastive analyzing of humorous laughter and satirical laughter,the author explores different views of humorous writers and left-wing literati concerning "humor","satire","reality",and their divergence of the legality of "laughter",and then study the aesthetic characteristics of Humorous Literature in depth.The reason was that Lin Yutang and others regarded the "laughter" as a goal and purpose,as a part of the outlook on life and the attitude of life,while the left-wing writers saw "laughter" as a way leading to deep criticism.The fourth chapter examines and comments Humorous Literature in the context of international vision and "New History of Laughter".The author points out that it had the characteristics of "Pidgin" and presented a multicultural cultural attribute.But meanwhile,this feature was full of political implications.In general,Humorous Literature had many inadequacies,but its appearance brought a positive laughter to China for the first time,and to a great extent,it rewrote the historical map of Chinese laughter culture.On the basis of summarizing the thesis,the conclusion part holds that Chinese Humorous Literature has shown significance in the introducing of "humor" concept,renewing Chinese people's understanding of "laughter" and the advocating of humorous essays' creation.However,while dealing with the realization of their own literary ideals and the processing of the times' appeal,as well as the responsibilities of the intellectuals,the humorous writers lacked deep reflection and necessary seriousness.In the meantime,the discussion of Humorous Literature enlightens us that we should continue to deepen the acquaintance with "humor" and "laughter",and to lay emphasis on the consideration of its starting point and destination.
