| The translation practice is based on the social parts of Australia 2025.This text amplifies Australian laws and regulations in various fields,the corresponding welfare policies for the middle-aged,the disabled,the style and character of the architecture and so on,which provides reference for the relevant sociological experts and scholars.According to Newmark’s text type theory,this paper belongs to academic text which contains three characteristics.Firstly,there are many compound and difficult sentences in the text in which passive voice is often used to reflect the objectivity of academic text so the strategies of amplification,reorganization of sentence structure and changing voice are adopted to complete a certain grammatical compensation.Secondly,there are many professional terms and words with special cultural identity which may cause cultural loss during the process of translation,therefore,the cultural compensation is adopted to solve this problem.Finally,the academic text is aimed to convey professional information in which sometimes the original intention is not obvious but implicated between the lines,thus translator must abandon the literal meaning to express the translator’s actual intention by using pragmatic compensation.Therefore,translators consciously use grammatical compensation,cultural compensation and pragmatic compensation and so on during the translation of academic text.However,the translation practice report aims to summarize the main translation compensations applied in this text and other important translation compensation methods have not been summarized,such as aesthetic compensation,semantic compensation,etc.Therefore,it is hoped that it can be remedied in later translation practices. |
