The Application Of Mesopic Vision Imaging In Oil Painting

Mesopic vision is a kind of vision that caused by the simultaneous function of retina's rod and cone cells when eyes' adaptation brightness level are between the range of photopic and scotopic vision.The paper will study the scene images that accords with mesopic vision based on the characteristics low saturation and weak contrast and shallow space in the range of its adaptation brightness level.In our daily life,mesopic vision has characteristics of universality,harmony and integrity.The delicate changes within the mesopic vision range often give people a hazy,harmonious and comfortable feeling on the physical and psychological level.In the long history of the development of painting,because of people's common demands of culture,mentality and beauty appreciation,many art works own characteristics of low color brightness contrast and the grey of shallow space where the entirety attuned to the same plane.The visual effect is covered in the range of mesopic vision,thus giving people a hazy,harmonious and comfortable feeling on the physical and psychological level just like mesopic vision.As a consequence,having a comprehensive and objective knowledge of mesopic vision's physiological and psychological characteristics,as well as its characteristics of low color brightness contrast and the grey of shallow space,will exert a certain aesthetic value to the modern grey oil painting.The author tried to explore the expression of grey oil painting through mesopic visual imaging,not just confined to the performance on colors,but also including the using of false and true dealing,harmony between brushes and the flattened space,brush a flattening.On this basis,taking the female painters in contemporary China for example,from the perspective of culture,history and visual perception psychology,the paper extracted the factors that can reappear mesopic visual imaging,including visual perception,thinking logic and expressiveness,thus reaching the inner relationship between the mesopic vision and female painters' painting creation.Through the learning of color using,brushwork and the actual situation,the paper digs deeper into the mesopic vision's characteristics' expression in oil painting creation,which are low saturation,low contrast and shallow space,eventually reach a kind of implicative,gentle spirit.The main contents of this issue are divided into five chapters:the first chapter is the introduction,which explains the current research situation of mesopic vision,and analyzes the main aim of the study the use of mesopic vision in oil painting,and clear the research methodology;the second chapter explains relevant theories about mesopic vision,including the conception and its characteristics of low saturation,weak contrast and shallow space;the third chapter shows the theoretical structure,and explores the mental influences that mesopic vision's origins exert on the reappearance of art,and analyzes the different reappearing mode of China and the western based on different geographical environment and cultural thoughts;the fourth chapter takes Chinese contemporary female painters for examples.And based on the Chinese traditional philosophy injected with Chinese contemporary painting,through the guidance and inspiration of the relationship between mesopic vision and Chinese painting value to painting creation,the paper studies the painting creations of Chinese contemporary female painters from a new angle of mesopic vision.Based on these analyses,the paper comes to a conclusion that mesopic vision is in accordance with aesthetic needs and emotion expressions of female painters in contemporary China;the fifth chapter studies the influences and significance of this issue towards author's oil painting,and also makes a conclusion.
