Interpretation Report On Secrets Of Museums

With the rapid development of information technology,video materials about foreign cultures and customs of different countries are available to people around the world through internet.And documentary,as one of the video materials,plays a very important role in cultural communication.Secrets of Museums is a high-quality documentary series produced by Canada National History Channel,which makes a comprehensive introduction to world-famous museums as well as precious collections,and tells secret stories behind them.Museum Secrets documentary series,serving as great carriers for cross-cultural communication,offer audiences a vast amount of knowledge and information.Interpretive Theory,put forward by French interpretation theorist Danica Seleskovitch,focuses on the content and delivery process.According to the theory,a complete interpretation process includes three steps: comprehension,deverbalization and expression.And the core of interpretation is to explain inner meanings of source language rather than the meaning of words.Guided by the Interpretive Theory,the author has done a consecutive interpreting assignment and following-up case studies to probe into the interpreting process and tried to provide some suggestions to improve the quality of consecutive interpretation.The report consists of five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction to interpretation materials.The second chapter introduces interpretation process,including interpretation preparation,interpretation process and analysis after interpretation.The third chapter is about literature review.Literature reviews about Interpretive Theory and documentary interpretation are focused.The forth chapter explains Interpretive Theory in terms of history,development,contents and guiding significance on interpretation.The fifth chapter is about case study which is the core part of the report.Guided by Interpretive Theory,this chapter analyzes several cases and examples in detail in order to offer approaches to improve interpretation.And the sixth chapter is the conclusion of this report,which summarizes some enlightenment of this practice and puts forward several suggestions for further interpretation study and work.
