A.S.Byatt,is a famous contemporary British writer,the winner of the booker prize and many other awards.Since the first novel The Shadow of The Sun published in1964,she has achieved fruitful results.In Byatt’s works,she showes a preference for the historical themes,the creation of historical novel in the narrative background of the Victorian era,called the Neo-Victorian Novels.This article embarks from the analysis of why Byatt’s keen on history writing,surveying the history of rich cultural landscape in the novel,as well as her rewrite history in women,she is discussed in the reappearance of the Victorian history and reconstruction in the process of woman’s history of the use of cultural memory.There are three parts In this paper,including introduction,main body and conclusion.The introduction part mainly expounds the significance of writing in this paper.First of all,introducing the selected topic reason and the selected topic significance.Second,discussing the research status at home and abroad of Byatt’s literary creation and making a comprehensive review.Through the induction summary,finding that there are few people combine the theme of the history in Neo-Victorian Novels with cultural memory writing to make an analysis in academic circles.And then,this paper introduces the research methods and research idea.The article main body includes four chapters.The first chapter briefly combs the byatt’s literary creation,and analyses the reasons why Byatt’s preference for historical themes.Then defines the concept of Neo-Victorian Novels,and illustrates the aesthetic representation of such novels.Finally discusses the key role of cultural memory in Neo-Victorian Novels in the process of writing history.The second chapter mainly combines with the background of the Victorian era,analysis the era predicament of Byatt’s reproduction in rewriting history of Victoria age.Then,this paper discusses the efforts that Victoria to breakthrough the era predicament which was described Byatt’s.Finally,analysis the cause of the Byatt’s preference for the Victorian history.The third chapter analyzes the Byatt’s Neo-Victorian Novels’ s deconstruction to the ideal female image"angel in the home”,as well as her efforts in fixed misreading of the history of woman’s.Then,unscramble the remodeling image of women in the Byatt’s novel,and explore its intention of reconstructing female history.The fourth chapter analysis the cultural memory of Byatt’s Neo-Victorian Novels,and demonstrates how Byatt’s completed the reproduction and reconstruction of Victorian history through writing memory.In the epilogue part,there is a summary of the full view in this passage.Repeated Byatt’s Neo-Victorian Novels’ s reproduction and reconstruct the significance of Victorian history.In the author’s opinion,Byatt’s Neo-Victorian Novels use the interchange of history and memory,constructing a past,present and future dialogue space,encouraging people to have a deeper understanding of history,promoting people to rethink the relationship of present and history.
