Systemic-Functional Grammar(SFG)of M.A.K.Halliday is based on his systemic theory and function theory,it is a common language theory, especially the theme-rheme theory in SFG,it’s the typical theory in SFG to analyze discourse. In this thesis the author use theme-rheme theory in SFG to analyze Bai language narrative discourse, and discuss the classfy of theme in the clauses according to the metafunction theory. The continuation of the pattern of thematic progression is important in the taxtual coherence.Firstly, this thesis focuses on the connection and difference between the theme, the topic and the subject-predicate structure, because the concept of theme and rheme in systemic functional grammar is different from that of many researchers, the former is the functional structure and the latter is the information structure;Secondly, this thesis discusses the main types of single theme, multiple theme and caluse theme in SFG and the demarcation of theme and rheme;Thirdly,it discusses the role of thematic progression and its role in textual cohesion, and then focuses on the theme-rheme division of the narrtive discourses in the Bai language, which is different from systemic functional grammar; At last, the author points out that in the process of text cohesion and comprehension, the theme is the complement of the information structure to the theme-rheme structure.Through thematic analysis on discourses, this thesis finally draws the following conclusion:the subject and adverbial of time table who falls into the same theme;first division thematic sentence;Bai language unique thematic division structure in the following constructions prior to functional component analysis principle;use the special words "zil" and "lil" as the stadard of the judgment of the theme and rheme;main push mode the judgment of large abandoned small.
