The Characteristics Of Huang Lao's School In The Book Named Wen Zi

"Wenzi" was mistaken as a pseudo-graph by scholars of the doubting antiquity school.But fortunately some parts of Wenzi which was unearthed at Baoding Hebei gave an end to the statement of pseudo-graph.A lot of scholars think that Wenzi is a book to give notices to Laozi.But in fact,Wenzi is a great book,which is based on the philosophy of Laozi,and at the same time combines thoughts of the Confucian School,the Mohist School.the Legalist School,the Military Strategist School and so on.The thoughts of Wenzi are abundant and valuable for us to study.This essay focuses on the huang lao xue(taoism)of Wenzi.Huang Di Si Jing is acknowledged by academia as the most original and the most complete work of huang lao xue.So,the essay stresses the connection of ideas between Wenzi and Huang Di Si Jing.The first chapter has two sections for discussing the idea "zhi yi er wei".Firstly,the first section gives us an introduction to "zhi yi" and the connection between this "zhi yi" and the"zhi yi" of huang lao xue.Meanwhile it proposes an idea that "zhi yi is following the Tao"and deeply explains how the idea developed the taoism of Laozi.The second section talks about the political technique of "wu wei er zhi".It analyses the different meanings of "wu wei" between Wenzi and Laozi.And then,how could we achieve noninterference?The premise of managing a country is cultivating one's moral character.So,the second chapter gives words to discuss that a man should be as absolutely sincere and calm as sages to achieve the standard to manage a country.The third chapter focuses the importance of "following the nature".It discusses this idea of Wenzi from "following the nature to cultivate ourselves" and"following the nature to manage a country".The first part of the third chapter gives us the detailed demands of "following the nature to cultivate ourselves",especially talks about the two points that a clear mind makes us calm and underestimating the interest is good at cultivate ourselves.And the second part is about how to manage a country by following the nature.It tells that not only when we formulate a policy,we need to follow the nature of nature and people.But we need to follow the characteristics of people when we are going to give somebody a position.The internal cause of a country's fluently work is human nature.And the external cause of it is the legal system.It's the reason for which Wenzi also tells the importance of "law".The last chapter discusses the function of the rule of law and the rule of virtue by summarizing the relation between punishment and law,the relation between virtue and law,and the idea that law involves a wide range but the punishment could be postponed.
