The Vassal state system was against to the western Han dynasty and the impleme ntation was an important minority of the administrative management system.The gov ernment of the western Han dynasty placed the surrender of nomadic people in territor ies "common to Qin" for its managed territories and these people could retain their ori ginal way of social production.This system originated in the warlords of the state syst em.At the beginning of the western Han dynasty,it also inherited this system.But in order to avoid the emperor Lou Bang for his greatness,it belonged to the state for the territories.With the the western Han dynasty becoming stronger,the system was deve loping,especially in the period of the emperor of Wudi.In this paper,on the basis of p redecessors research results and traditional historical materials,combining with releva nt literature of western Han dynasty of unearthed bamboo and existing wooden slips,i t discusses the issues related to the system development process from the aspects of di fferent territories in the western Han dynasty and gets a comprehensive understanding of the system.This thesis discussed the vassal state system of the western Han dynasty from the following parts: The first chapter discussed the vassal state system in the early western Han dynasty and explored the origin of the vassal state system of the western Han dynasty which amount to the state system of Qin dynasty through the related unearthed literature.The second chapter described the great development of the vassal state system in the period of Emperor Wu,analyzed the reasons and influences of the great development and discussed some vassals which were set up in the western Han dynasty.The third chapter mainly analyzed the state official system.The duties of the relevant offices and relations were discussed.The fourth chapter discussed the changes and historical function of the vassal state system in the western Han dynasty.
