| Seoae Ryu Seong-ryong(1542-1607)is an outstanding Korean thinkerand politician.He was a guest of Tuixi Li Huang,and also the founder of SeoaeSchool.The greatest influence of Ryu Seong-ryong on the academic history of the Korean Dynasty was to suppress and obliterate the possibility of the survival and development of Yangmingism in Korea together with Tuixi,laying a solid foundation for the domination of Zhuism in Korea.But from another perspective,he paidmuch attention to the world,pragmatic,genuine knowledge etc.,which makes us have to think about his "edification" in thecriticism of Yangmingism.Based on this kind of question,this paper explores the philosophical thoughtsof Liu Chenglong from two aspects,i.e.the origin relationship between Liu Chenglong’s and Tuixi’sthoughts,and his philosophicalthoughts formedin the criticism of Yangmingism.The first chapter briefly introduces the purpose,significance,current research status,research methods and innovationsat home and abroad.The second chapter introduces the background and thought origin of Liu Chenglong.It is elaborated in the thesis that the times Ryu Seong-ryong lived werefacing the situation where the defects of Zhuismwere constantly exposed and the outside turbulenceswere frequent.His thoughtswereorigined from the "Jia Xue"(knowledge inherited in a family)and Tuixi thoughts.The third chapter elaborates Ryu Seong-ryong’s Li-Qi theory.The meaning of Li and Qi and the relationship between Li and Qi were elaborated.He inherited the theories of Tuixi,e.g.the interaction between Li and Qi,the sequence of Li and Qi,and the domination difference of Li and Qi.The fourth chapter elaborates Ryu Seong-ryong’s theory of mind and nature.This paper introduces Ryu Seong-ryong’s understanding of mind and nature from two aspects,i.e."theory of no discrepancy between mindand nature" and "theory of mind domination".In his theory of mind,he supported the doctrines of "the Doctrine of the Mean" and "the Great Learning" thatemphasized the theory of mind domination,and also supported the "theory of no discrepancy between mindand nature”theory advocated by Confucius and Mencius.The fifth chapter elaborates Ryu Seong-ryong’stheory of self-cultivation from threes aspects,i.e.theory of skill,theory of knowledge and practiceand theory of from object-observing to knowledge.On the theory of skill,he advocated to continuously improve the skills through all kinds of practice methods in daily life;on the theory of knowledge and practice,he emphasized the aspect of "knowledge","genuine knowledge",and the important influence of "thinking" on "knowledge" and practice".Ryu Seong-ryong attached great importance to "knowledge" due to his criticism for Yangmingism.In his criticism for Wang Yangming’s theory of "innate knowledge",he advocated reading,self-cultivation,experience and knowledge,and opposed the Zen idea of Lu-Wang’s theory of mind.And based on "theDoctrine of the Mean",he opposed the theory of knowledge and action are oneand supported the theory of knowledge and practice advance together;on the theory of from object-observing to knowledge,he advocated tocontinuously pursue the facts and reasons under the guidance of’genuine knowledge". |
