The development of intellectual economy will give rise to the reform of college English education with the aim of fostering talents owning the multi-level and interdisciplinary knowledge.The college English teachers'knowledge structure has great impact on the promotion of students and the development of English education.This thesis,based on social cognitivism theory,has a questionnaire survey "Interview on college English teachers'knowledge structure" as the main form among 190 college English teachers from 8 colleges and the interview for 3 chosen teachers.With the combination of quantitative and qualitative methodology,the current state of the college English teachers' knowledge structure is presented and the influential factors are discussed.Based on the factor analysis,the differences on gender,teaching length,professional title,academic level and the college level are shown after the descriptive analysis and the factors from inner cognition and outer environment which make the influence of the variety are then revealed by the regression analysis.The results shown are as following:In general,the college English teachers have complete knowledge structure;however,there still exist some differences.The teachers with different academic levels and teach in different college levels have significant differences on subject content knowledge.With the higher level of the academic qualification and college they teach,the better mastery of subject content knowledge they have.The differences of teaching strategies and skills fall into the teachers with different teaching length and professional titles with positive correlation.With social cognitivism theory as foundation,the suggestions on how to optimize the knowledge structures for college English teachers are given at last.It is both theoretically and practically meaningful for enriching the social cognitivism theory and helping the college English teachers realizing the problems as well as giving the inspirations for the future development.
