| Objective: To detect in which dimensions and ERP components are Chinese-English bilingual words emotionally difference.Methods: In experiment 1,the participants were required to score pleasure,arousal,dominance and familiarity the four dimensions in 9-point evaluation.In experiment 2,the participants took a lexical monitoring task(LMT)to judge whether the word was a real word or not.Results:(1)In experiment 1,scores of English were higher than Chinese words(F(1,38)=5.335,p<0.05),and males higher than females(F(1,38)=13.106,p<0.001)in pleasure dimension.Emotion effect was salient in all four dimensions: positive words > neutral words > negative words in pleasure,dominance and familiarity(F(2,76)=333.884,p<0.001;F(2,76)=17.667,p<0.001;F(2,76)=53.766,p<0.001)and emotional words(positive & negative)> neutral words in arousal dimension(F(2,76)=55.830,p<0.001).The interaction between language and emotion showed that English scores were higher than Chinese in negative condition(F(2,76)=4.599,p<0.05).(2)In experiment 2,the accuracy(ACC)and reaction time(RT)results were:ACC of real words Chinese > English(F(1,38)=10.407,p<0.01);the interaction between language and emotion showed salient Chinese > English in positive and neutral conditions(F(2,76)=3.738,p<0.05),but not in negative condition.ACC of pseudo-words was Chinese > English(F(1,38)=14.265,p<0.05),and RT of RT was English > Chinese(F(1,38)=124.992,p<0.001).The ERP results showed interaction of language,emotion and sex in P1 amplitude(F(2,76)=5.170,p<0.01): negative English words > negative Chinese words in the female,and the same in difference waves of negative minus neutral waves(F(1,38)=8.101,p<0.01).Males delayed 7ms than female in P1 latency(F(1,38)=5.664,p<0.05).For EPN amplitude,English >Chinese(F(1,38)=12.042,p<0.001)and females > males(F(1,38)=6.118,p<0.05).The interaction of language,emotion and sex showed that English > Chinese in every conditions except negative male condition(F(2,76)=3.697,p<0.05).P300 amplitude showed salient English > Chinese(F(1,38)=29.273,p<0.001)and negative words >positive and neutral words(F(2,76)=4.554,p<0.05).Females delayed 33 ms than males in P300 latency(F(1,38)=4.669,p<0.05).Chinese words were more enhanced than English in N400 amplitude(F(1,38)=37.253,p<0.001;F(1,38)=7.393,p<0.001).Conclusions:(1)Chinese was of more advantage than English in semantic,however the emotion advantage didn’t appear.(2)The emotion difference between Englis and Chinese was showed early in P1 compenent(90-150ms).(3)Females were more sensitive in negative emotion than males,and easier to get salient in language and emotion interactions. |
