Emotional cognitive processing of reading mainly includes two levels of influence: the impact of emotional information contained in vocabulary on reading processing and the influence of emotional state on reading processing. This study explores the role of emotional words in sentence reading processing by strictly controlling arousal and word frequency, and discusses the interaction between word frequency and the emotional nature of words.Experiments using subject frequency(high frequency, low frequency)× emotional words(positive words, neutral words, negative words)were designed, and 24 subjects were selected to read sentences containing emotional words. The results were as follows:(1)Compared with neutral words, there were processing advantages in positive emotion words and negative emotion words in the early indicators such as first fixation time and single fixation time, but there was no difference between positive and negative words..(2)In the reading speed index, there is an interaction between emotional words and word frequency.High frequency positive sentences are slower than low frequency positive sentences.Negative sentences, however, show opposite patterns which indicates the overall processing of positive and negative words. The patterns are different;compared to sentences containing neutral words, reading speeds with emotional words and sentences are slow, which indicates that emotional words play a deferring role in overall sentence processing, and to a certain degree they support the theory of mobilization minimization hypothesis.Experiment 2 showed that early experimental indicators found that word frequency effect only appeared on the level of neutral words, and there was no difference between positive and negative emotional words at high and low frequencies. This indicates that when vocabulary does not contain emotional information, word frequency is more obvious.Late experimental indicators support the existing word frequency effect, and relative to neutral information, emotional information is more conducive to processing the existing research results.Reading speed as a whole experimental index found that the emotional state extended the attention period of sentence reading, and the positive emotional state in the face of emotional words there is a certain degree of emotional consistency. In the overall reading, the performance of the eye movement data of emotional words is consistent with that of previous studies. That is,passive information is more likely to receive attention. The result of the reading speed of word frequency interacting with emotional words supports a certain minimum hypothesis. In Experiment 3.The results showed that there were obvious interactions between emotional words and emotional states in early, late and overall experimental indicators. In the negative emotional state, there are significant differences among the three types of emotional words, and the negative words have the smallest time of fixation. The pattern of results was inconsistent with the effect of emotional consistency.Although both positive and negative emotional states generally promoted overall responses compared to the control group, neither of the two emotional states seemed to contribute to the response to the emotionally consistent vocabulary.Instead, these patterns of discovery appear to be the result of attentional effects caused by the initiation of emotions. The positive emotional state expands attention to the overall level, eliminating the difference between the “positive-negative” categories, but keeping the arousal dimension high and low.On the contrary, the negative emotional state focuses attention on the local level, especially the differentiated understanding of negative vocabulary, resulting in inefficient promotion. |
