Objective: This paper analyzes the related articles of insomnia in the ancient classic literature, summarizes the ancient doctors' understanding of insomnia, excavates the acupuncture prescription rules of acupuncture treatment of insomnia, and hopes to provide the reference of classic literature for the modern clinical acupuncture treatment of insomnia. Methods: Based on two Chinese medical classics,Huangdi Neijing and Nanjing, and two acupuncture monograph,A-B Classic of Acupuncture and Moxibustion and acupuncture Dacheng.Search relevant articles, sorts out, analyzes and summarizes the records of insomnia and its acupuncture treatment in the four ancient medical books by computer retrieval and manual retrieval.Summarizes the ancient physicians' understanding, description, etiology and pathogenesis of insomnia,as well as the operation methods of acupuncture moxibustion for insomnia briefly, focusing on the rules of acupoint selection for the treatment of insomnia by Acupuncture and moxibustion, and excavating some internal links in the acupoints..Results: 1.The understanding of insomnia in classical literature has covered the category of insomnia in modern medicine, and many different descriptions of insomnia have obvious relationship with the organs of the disease.2.Ancient classics believed that the causes of insomnia were physiological factors, abnormal climate, mispricking, exogenous six exogenous pathogens and internal injury to five viscera and six organs, most of which were internal injury to five viscera and six organs.3.A total of 134 articles on insomnia and 70 prescriptions for acupuncture were retrieved in this subject, and the prescription regularity was as follows:(1)Single-point prescription was the main prescription, accounting for74.65%.(2)The most commonly used acupoints were Shenshu,Yinbai,Sanyinjiao,Liexian,Taiyuan,Xinshu,Gongsun and Gaoxu.(3)A total of 68 acupoints were used,67 acupoints were used while 1 was Jingwaiqi Point, and 34 acupoints were commonly used, with a total frequency of 130 times.(4)The common meridians were bladder meridian, spleen meridian,Ren meridian and lung meridian;(5)The acupoints used were mainly specific acupoints, totally 42,accounting for 70% of the total frequency, among which Wushu,Jiaohui and Beishu were the most.(6)The acupoints on the lower limbs were mostly used in the whole body, accounting for 32.35% of the total acupoints. It is according to the channeils and collaterals dialectical theory, use the far-end acupoint selection to carry on the treatment,as the "Lingshu Jing" said: "disease is on the top, take down".4.The operation of single point prescription moxibustion was recorded in detail according to "three points of needle, seven points of breath, three Zhuang of Moxibustion".There were very few descriptions of the specific operation methods of acupoint and multi-point prescription, and a few points emphasize "Moxibustion" or "hundred Zhuang" of moxibustion. Conclusion:There were many different descriptors of insomnia in the classical literature, which are helpful to the diagnosis and treatment of insomnia. The theoretical explanation of insomnia and the law of acupoint selection in acupuncture treatment reflected that the ancient insomnia was more closely related to the five viscera and six Fu organs, and the acupoints for syndrome differentiation were the combination of meridian syndrome differentiation and viscera syndrome differentiation. Most of the prescriptions were few and precise. In the Ming Dynasty, there were more prescriptions for acupuncture points in Dacheng. It was thedevelopment and progress of practical cognition summarized by ancient doctors according to the development and the severity of disease.Their cognition fully embodied the thought of "holistic view" and "preventive treatment",the research on prevention and cure is very attractive, which is worthy of our generations to think deeply and learn from.
