A Low-dose Dexmedetomidine For Prevention Of Delirium In Elderly Patients After Abdominal Surgery

Objective: To observe the effect of small dose of dexmedetomidine can reduce postoperative delirium in elderly incidence;Methods: From January 2016 to September2017 in Department of Critical Care Medicine.There are 100 patients were receivde and cured who after a abdominal surgery over 60 years old.They were randomly divided into control group(50 cases)and observation group(50 cases).The experimental group was dexmedetomidine and the control group was a placebo.The incidence of postoperative delirium,inflammatory factors(interleukin-6,C reactive protein),age and gender were observed.Results:(1)There was no significant difference in the basic data of age and sex between the observation group and the control group(P>0.05),which was comparable.(2)The first postoperative day delirium rate difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05),fifth days in the observation group the incidence of delirium is reduced from28% to 10%,with significant differences(P<0.01),the control group the incidence of delirium is reduced from 30% to 26%,there was no significant difference(P>0.05);The fifth day observation group the incidence of delirium was lower than the control group,(P<0.05).(3)The incidence of postoperative hypertension and heart rate tachycardia in the observation group was lower than that in the control group.There was a significant difference in the incidence of hypertension(P<0.05).(4)There was no significant difference between the observation group and the control group after IL-6 and CPR(P>0.05);Compared with the postoperative level,transferred out of ICU IL-6 and CPR were significantly decreased;From ICU observation group IL-6 and CPR were lower than those of control group.Conclusion: Preventive infusion of small doses of dexmedetomidine on average 14 hours,can significantly reduce the incidence of delirium and can significantly reduce the incidence of delirium within 5 days after surgery.
