Objective:A Meta-analysis to evaluate the relationship between VGLL4 protein expression and clinical significance in patients with gastric cancer. Methods:Electronic search is supplemented by manual search of large databases at home and abroad, such as Pub Med,Embase,Web of Science,Cochrane library,Wanfang,Chinese biomedical journal literature database,China How Net,VIP,etc.,with the keywords of gastric cancer and Free words,VGLL4(vestigal-like 4)keywords and free words search for literature on the relationship between VGLL4 expression and clinicopathological features in gastric cancer patients. The deadline for inclusion in the literature is March 2020.According to the established screening criteria for inclusion and exclusion, the corresponding data were extracted after evaluating the quality of the selected literature. The research indicators included gastric cancer tissues, lymph node metastasis,TNM stage, invasiveness, tumor size, classification of differentiation, gender and age.The Review Manager 5.3 software provided by the Cochrane Collaboration Network was used for this meta-analysis.According to the heterogeneity of the research indicators,a fixed or random effect model was used to combine the effect amounts.Results:Finally,6 articles met the inclusion criteria, with a sample size of 767 gastric cancer patients.Meta-analysis results showed that there were 4 articles on the expression of VGLL4 protein in gastric cancer. The results showed that VGLL4 protein was downregulated in gastric cancer tissues(OR = 0.12,95% CI = 0.05-0.27,P <0.00001).Although there are no specific data in the other two articles, the data also show that VGLL4 is lowly expressed in gastric cancer tissues;there are 6 articles that study the lymph node metastasis of VGLL4 protein and gastric cancer, the results show that VGLL4 protein is lowly expressed in lymph node metastasis(OR = 0.26,95% CI = 0.18-0.38,P <0.0001).There are 6 literature studies on VGLL4 and TNM staging of gastric cancer. The results show that VGLL4 protein is highly expressed in stage I-II gastric cancer(OR = 5.53,95% CI = 2.77-11.05,P <0.0001)compared with III-IV stage gastric cancer patients.3 articles have studied VGLL4 protein and gastric cancer invasiveness, the results show that VGLL4 protein is lowly expressed in invasive gastric cancer(OR = 0.32,95% CI = 0.20-0.52,P <0.00001).There are 6 articles on the study of VGLL4 protein and the size of gastric cancer, which are divided into 2 groups(Group 1: Gastric cancer size <3cm,Gastric cancer size ? 3cm,Group 2: Gastric cancer size <5cm,Gastric cancer size ? 5cm).The results show VGLL4 protein No significant correlation with tumor size(Group 1: OR = 0.73 95% CI = 0.33-1.63,P = 0.44)(Group 2: OR = 1.48 95% CI = 0.63-3.46,P = 0.37).There are 6 literature studies on VGLL4 protein and Gastric cancer differentiation, the results showed that VGLL4 protein had no significant correlation with the degree of gastric cancer differentiation(OR = 1.82,95% CI = 0.71-4.65,P = 0.21).6 articles investigated the correlation between the VGLL4 protein and gender and age.The results showed VGLL4 protein had no significant correlation with gender and age(sex: OR = 1.16,95% CI = 0.81-1.66,P = 0.43),(age: R = 0.79,95% CI = 0.56-1.12,P = 0.19).Conclusion:VGLL4 protein is downregulated in gastric cancer tissues, and its downregulation was correlated with lymph node metastasis,TNM staging, and aggressiveness of patients with gastric cancer.Whether VGLL4 could be a potential target gene in gastric cancer,it still needs morehigh-quality studies to confirm.
