Objective: To study the relationship between metastasis-associated in colon cancer-1(MACC1)expression and clinicopathological features of gastric cancer. Methods: All eligible studies regarding the association of MACC1 protein expression with clini?copathological features in patients with gastric cancer were retrieved from PubMed,Embase,Cochrane Library, web of science, and Chinese publication banks including CNKI,VIP,WanFang Data,up to February 2018.The Meta-analysis was performed using Stata 12.0 software to analyze the relationship between MACC1 protein and clinicopathological characteristics of gastric cancer. The odds ratio(OR)and 95% confidence interval(CI)were used to evaluate the correlation intensity.heterogeneity test and bias evaluation of the research literature were carried out by funnel plot, egger plot and Begg plot. Results: A total of 12 articles containing 1238 tumor tissues,1145 normal control tissue were ultimately included for this Meta analysis. Our findings revealed that the expression of MACC1 protein was significantly increased in gastric cancer specimen compared to that in normal tissues(OR =12.09,95%CI(7.98,18.34),P<0.00001).In addition,MACC1 protein was also found to be significantly associated with degree of differentiation{OR= 0.377,95%CI(0.23,0.42),P<0.00001},invasion depth of gastric cancer{OR=0.41,95%CI(0.26,0.65),P=0.001},TNM stage{OR=0.36,95%CI(0.21,0.62),P<0.00001},lymph node metastasis{OR=4.85,95%CI(3.04,7.75),P<0.00001},hepatic metastasis{OR=2.43,95%CI(0.75,7.91),P=0.03},peritoneal metastasis{OR=3.95,95%CI(1.74,9.00),P=0.001},distant metastasis{OR=2.01,95%CI(0.69,0.85),P=0.03}.However,gender {OR=1.13,95%CI(0.86,1.48),P=0.28},tumor location{OR=0.91,95% CI(0.65,1.29),P=0.61} are not found in associated with MACC1 level. Conclusion: MACC1 expression might have more associated with invasion depth of gastric cancer, degree of differentiation,TNM Stage, lymph node metastasis, distant metastasis,Hepatic metastasis, peritoneal metastasis.Based on the results shown above,MACC1 can be used as a marker of the occurrence, development and prognosis of gastr ic cancer, and may also become a new target for the treatment of gastric cancer.
