| attitude towards the elderly and their nursing practice,and to analyze and discuss the relevant factors of knowledge of aging of nursing students and their attitude towards the elderly in nursing practice.According to the research results,this paper puts forward targeted strategies to provide reference for educators and managers on how to effectively optimize the knowledge of aging of nursing students in practice,change the attitude towards the elderly,and improve the practical effect of elderly care.Objective To investigate the knowledge of aging of nursing students in practice,theirMethods A cross-sectional survey was conducted on 630 nursing students who received clinical nursing in four general hospitals in Lanzhou from October 1st to December 1st,2019.Using general information questionnaire,aging knowledge scale,elderly attitude scale,and Casey-Fink nursing students' practice questionnaire.Relevant data of investigation and statistics were set up with Excel database and processed with SPSS22.0 software.In the data processing,multi-dimensional variables were introduced to conduct hierarchical regression analysis of multiple investigation factors,and analyze the correlation degree among relevant factors,so as to obtain the mutual influence relationship among relevant factors such as nursing students' knowledge level of aging and their attitude towards the elderly.Results1.The total knowledge of aging of nursing students was(11.08±2.94),and the passing rate was 10.6%.The total attitude of nursing students towards the elderly was(114.53±16.22).2.The nursing practice of practice nursing students for the aged was(166.92±22.21)points.Among them,the total skill operation score was(67.64±13.49)points,the total confidence and ability score was(69.14±9.07)points,and the total satisfaction score was(30.08±6.24)points3.Knowledge of aging of nursing students in practice was positively correlated with attitude(r=0.313,P< 0.05);Knowledge of aging and attitude towards the elderly were positively correlated with nursing practice(r=0.131,r=0.229,P < 0.05).4.The knowledge of aging of nursing students and the scores of attitude towards the elderly were taken as dependent variables respectively.The variables with statistical significance were put into the first layer of general data univariate analysis,the variables of attitude or knowledge were put into the second layer,and the total scores of clinical practice and scores of each dimension were put into the third layer.The results showed that the attitudes of the practice hospital and the practice nursing students towards the elderly and the confidence and ability in the clinical practice of geriatric nursing could jointly explain 25.4% of the variation of the knowledge of aging of the practice nursing students.In general information,the willingness of nursing students to live with the elderly in the future,the frequency of contact with the elderly at ordinary times,the willingness of nursing students to work in geriatric nursing in the future,the knowledge of aging,and the confidence and ability in the clinical practice experience of geriatric nursing can jointly explain the 45.7% variation of knowledge of aging of nursing students in practice.Conclusion1.The aging knowledge level of nursing students was relatively low.The attitude of the nursing students towards the elderly was neutral and positive.It is suggested that nursing educators should take targeted measures to improve their knowledge level of aging and positive attitude intervention for the elderly.2.In this study,the aging knowledge level of nursing students only showed statistical significance in different practice hospitals;There were statistically significant differences in nursing students' attitudes towards the elderly in terms of different educational background,contact frequency with elderly relatives,willingness to live with the elderly in the future,and willingness to practice nursing for the elderly in the future.3.Nursing students' internship experience in nursing for the aged is generally evaluated.Guidance and management should be strengthened in the aspects of skill operation,work confidence and ability,internship satisfaction and role change,so as to improve the practical effect of geriatric nursing.4.Nursing students' aging knowledge and attitude towards the elderly are respectively positively correlated with internship experience.After controlling for demographic characteristics and the interaction between knowledge and attitude,the dimensions of confidence and ability in the clinical practice environment of geriatric nursing were the main factors influencing the aging knowledge and attitude of nursing students.We can deepen practice and intervene in this area. |
