Serum Fetuin-A Levels In Patients With Polycystic Ovary Syndrome And An Observational Study Of Liraglutide In The Treatment Of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

Objective: To determine the circulating Fetuin-A levels in women with PCOS and examine the association between serum Fetuin-A levels and clinical characteristics and metabolic parameters in women with PCOS.To observe the effects of liraglutide on the metabolism of patients with PCOS,evaluate the efficacy of liraglutide in the treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome.Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted,including 122 PCOS women and 85 healthy women in part 1,collecting general data,sex hormones and blood lipids.Circulating Fetuin-A levels were determined using an ELISA kit.In part 2,27 PCOS women were treated with liraglutide 1.8 mg / d.The general conditions and metabolic indicators such as oral glucose tolerance test,insulin release test,HbA1 c and sex hormones were performed before treatment and 12 weeks,24 weeks after treatment.Euglycemic-hyperinsulinemic clamp(EHC,a euglycemic-hyperinsulinemic state)were performed in all patients before treatment and 24 weeks after treatment,and M values were recorded.Results: Women with PCOS have higher circulating Fetuin-A levels than healthy women(437.9 ± 119.2 vs.313.8 ± 60.4 ?g/L;P<0.01).Serum Fetuin-A concentrations correlated positively with WHR,LDL-C,FIns,HOMA-IR,TEST and DHEA-S.Multivariate regression analysis showed that WHR,HOMA-IR and TEST were independent influencing factors of serum Fetuin-A.Binary logistic regression reaveled that serum Fetuin-A was associated with the occurrence of PCOS.In addition,ROC curve analysis found that the cutoff values for Fetuin-A to predict PCOS and IR were366.3 and 412.6 ?g/L in part 1.In part 2,after treatment with liraglutide in PCOS,BMI,Fat%,and HOMA-IR were lower than before treatment(P<0.05);TEST?FIns?TC?TG?LDL-C decreased compared with that before treatment(P<0.05).M-values was higher than that before treatment(P<0.05).Conclusion: The level of circulating Fetuin-A was significantly higher in PCOS patients than in the control subjects,blood Fetuin-A may be a useful biomarker for screening women with PCOS and IR.Liraglutide has a certain effect on improving the metabolic disorder of PCOS patients.
