Objective:To investigate the clinical characteristics of the spinal cord ependymoma and the method of microsurgery for the treatment of the spinal cord ependymoma. Methods:A total of 32 cases of spinal cord ependymoma confirmed by pathology after operation in our medical department of patients with myelopathy from May 2015 to December 2019 were collected.Besides, their clinical characteristics, microsurgical treatment methods and postoperative effects were retrospectively analyzed. Results:In our study, all the patients(32/32,100%)were treated by microsurgery, and they were confirmed by postoperative pathology as ependymoma.Among those cases,24 cases(24/32,75%)were total resection and 8 cases(8/32,25%)were subtotal resection through microsurgery. The patients were discharged after stable condition, and the patients were followed up until December 2019.Conclusion:1 ? Microsurgery is the best method for the treatment of spinalependymoma with the aid of nuclear magnetic localization, ultrasonic guidance and electrophysiological monitoring.2 ? The clinical symptoms of intramedullary ependymoma of the spinal cord are varied.MRI can be helpful for the differential diagnosis of the ependymoma.3 ? Cystic degeneration is a typical feature of intramedullary ependymoma of spinal cord, which is useful for diagnosis by imaging.4?The treatment of intramedullary ependymoma of the spinal cord advocates early operation and strives to achieve total tumor resection on the premise of preserving spinal nerve function,so as to improve the prognosis of the patients.
