Objective: This study aims to explore the efficacy and mechanism of mindfulness-based cognitive therapy(MBCT)for obsessive-compulsive disorder(OCD),and the OCD-MBCT program for clinical promotion in Chinese population. Methods: A randomized controlled trial(RCT)was conducted to randomize OCD patients into SSRIs medicine group,MBCT group, and psycho-education group.Subjects received 10 weeks of intervention and have a 6-months follow-up after the intervention. All of the subjects were evaluated at baseline(0 weeks),mid-intervention(4 weeks),post-intervention(10 weeks),and follow-up(14 weeks,22 weeks,34 weeks)with a series of psychometric scales to measure clinical symptoms and quality of life. The primary efficacy measure was the Yale-Brown Obsessive-Compulsive Scale(Y-BOCS),and the Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD-24)and the Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA)were secondary statistical indicators. Results: According to the clinical efficacy index divided by the rate of reduction, the three groups of subjects had significant differences in the improvement of obsessive-compulsive symptoms(p =.032),anxiety(p =.024)and depression(p =.014)symptoms before and after the intervention, and the difference did not last to the six-month follow-up by now.According to the score of scales, the level of obsessive-compulsive symptoms(p <.001),anxiety symptoms(p <.001),depression symptoms(p <.001),mindfulness(p =.001)and social function(p <.001)of participants in the three groups were significantly improved before and after the intervention and at the six-month follow-up,but there was no significant difference between these groups. Conclusion: Medicine group,MBCT group, and psycho-education group have improved obsessive-compulsive symptoms, anxiety and depression symptoms in OCD patients, and medicine treatment is optimal in a short-term level, medicine and MBCT was superior to psychological education after the intervention. The research results present new challenges and opportunities for the study of psychotherapy for OCD,especially group therapy.
