Objective To study the relationship between the expression levels of inflammatory factors HMGB1,TLR4,MyD88,and NF-?B in the brain tissues adjacent to the angiomas surgically removed from CCMs patients and the severity of seizures, and to explore the clinical significance. Methods The CCMs patients with seizures treated surgically in our department were enrolled, and were subdivided into three subgroups according to the seizure frequency.Patients undergoing surgical treatment of traumatic brain injuries without seizures were used as the control group. The mRNA expression levels of HMGB1,TLR4,MyD88 and NF-?B in each group were determined by Q-PCR,and the protein expression levels were detected by Western Blot. The differences among groups were statistically analyzed. Results The mRNA and protein expression levels of HMGB1,TLR4,MyD88 and NF-?B in CCMs patients with seizures were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).The expression levels were positively correlated with the severity of seizures(P<0.05).Conclusion Inflammatory factors TLR4,MyD88,HMGB1,and NF-?B play an important role in CCM patients with seizures and may become a potential therapeutic target for antiepileptic therapy in patients with CCMs.
