Objective To investigate the relationship between serum microelement levels and dyslipidemia, diabetes, hypertension and obesity in Ningxia community, and to provide scientific theoretical basis for prevention metabolic diseases in Ningxia community. Methods 1610 subjects that selected by using cluster random sampling from five cities in Ningxia(Yinchuan City,Wuzhong City,Zhongwei City,Guyuan City, and Shizuishan City). We conducted questionnaires, physical measurements and laboratory tests on the subjects.Microelement in serum were measered using ICP-MS.Results1.Stability and accuracy of serum microelement determination: The detection limits of iron, copper, zinc, manganese, selenium, strontium, antimony, aluminum, vanadium, and barium were 0.0607 ?g / L,0.2981 ?g / L,0.1973 ?g / L,0.0104 ?g / L,and 0.3103 ?g / L,0.0809 ?g / L,0.0028 ?g / L,0.0869 ?g / L,0.0026 ?g / L,0.0145 ?g / L.The correlation coefficients of the configuration standard curves were all greater than 0.999.The intra-day precision and daytime precision were less than 6% and 14%.The range of the recoveries of microelement standard was between 75% and 120%.2.Results of the determination of 10 kinds microelements of serum among normal of people in ningxia community: The average values of microelements in the nomal people were that of Fe element 1346.28(534.80)?g / L,Cu element 1123.31(350.17)?g / L,Zn element 996.00(438.57)?g / L,Mn element 1.70(1.58)?g / L,Se Element 81.09(54.08)?g / L,Sr element 102.52(46.18)?g / L,Sb element 1.67(0.69)?g / L,Al element 128.86(77.30)?g / L,V element 0.19(0.21)?g / L,Ba element 1.24(2.60)?g / L.The serum Fe,Sb,and Al contents of males were higher than those of females, and the Cu content of females was higher than that of males, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Cu content in men ?60 year-old group was higher than that in the <60 year-old group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Using Spearman correlation analysis,Fe was positively correlated with Zn,Mn,Se,Sb,Al,V,and Ba.Cu is positively correlated with Zn,Se,Sr,Sb,V,and Ba.Zn has a positive correlation with Se,Sr,Sb,and V.Mn is positively correlated with Sb,Al,V,and Ba.Se is positively correlated with Sr,Sb,Al,and Ba.Sr is positively correlated with Sb and V.Sb is positively correlated with Al and V.There is a positive correlation between Al and V.3.Correlation between dyslipidemia and microelements: The weight,BMI,waist circumference,TG,TC,LDL-C,FBG and DBP of the dyslipidemia group were higher than those of the non-dyslipidemia group while the HDL-C of the non-dyslipidemia group was higher than that of the dyslipidemia group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The contents of Fe,Zn,Sr and Sb in the dyslipidemia group were higher than those in the non-dyslipidemia group while the Al was higher in the non-dyslipidemia group than in the dyslipidemia group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Using unconditional logistic multiple regression analysis, the results showed that compared with low level of serum zinc, middle level of serum zinc(OR = 1.706,95% CI: 1.291,2.255)and high level of serum zinc(OR = 2.099,95% CI: 1.569,2.807)is associated with an increased risk of dyslipidemia.4.Correlation between impaired fasting glucose, diabetes and microelements: The differences in age, gender, hypertension and dyslipidemia were statistically significant(P<0.05)among the normal blood glucose group, impaired fasting glucose group and the diabetes group. The body weight of the diabetic group was higher than that of the normal blood glucose group, and the waist circumference and BMI of the diabetic group were higher than those of the normal blood glucose group and the impaired fasting glucose group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The contents of Zn and Sr in impaired fasting glucose group and diabetes group were higher than those in normal blood glucose group, and the contents of Sb and V in impaired fasting glucose group were higher than those in normal blood glucose group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Logistic multiple regression results showed that compared with low level of serum iron, high level of serum iron(OR = 0.586,95% CI: 0.409,0.841)were protective factors for impaired fasting glucose.Compared with low level of serum zinc, middle level of serum zinc(OR = 1.492,95% CI: 1.029,2.163)and high level of serum zinc(OR = 2.977,95% CI: 2.090,4.241)are risk factors for impaired fasting glucose.Compared with low level of serum manganese, middle level of serum manganese(OR = 1.601,95% CI: 1.144,2.241)and high level of serum manganese(OR = 1.481,95% CI: 1.037,2.115)are risk factors for impaired fasting glucose.High level of serum zinc(OR = 1.691,95% CI: 1.134,2.521)are risk factors for diabetes.5.Correlation between hypertension and microelements: The differences in age, gender, monthly income, and prevalence of diabetes were statistically significant(P<0.05)in the hypertension and non-hypertension groups. The weight, waist circumference, and BMI of the hypertension group were higher than those of the non-hypertension group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).There was a positive correlation between serum Cu and systolic blood pressure with correlation coefficients 0.069,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There was a positive correlation between serum Cu and Zn elements and diastolic blood pressure with correlation coefficients of 0.053 and 0.049,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).6.Correlation between obesity and microelements: Compared with low level of serum copper, middle level of serum copper(OR = 1.518,95% CI: 1.080,2.133)and high level of serum copper(OR = 1.663,95% CI: 1.182,2.339)are obese Risk factors.Conclusion1.The results of ICP-MS instrument for the determination of serum microelements in large samples were accurate and stable.2.The content of microelements in ten kinds of serum among normal people in ningxia community was in the order of Fe>Cu>Zn>Al>Sr>Se>Ba>Mn>Sb>V;There were gender differences in serum Fe,Sb,Al and Cu contents. The content of Cu in the ?60 year-old group was higher than that in the <60 year-old group. And there is a certain correlation between various elements.3.Elevated serum zinc levels may increase the risk of dyslipidemia, impaired fasting glucose, diabetes, and high diastolic blood pressure.4.Serum iron may be a protective factor for impaired fasting glucose;Serum manganese may be a risk factor for impaired fasting glucose.5.Serum Cu is positively correlated with systolic and diastolic blood pressure, and the increase of its level may also be a risk factor for obesity.
