Comprehensive Endodontic Treatments For Head And Neck Cancer And Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

As a part of the whole body system,oral organ is closely linked with other systems and organs of the body.Systemic diseases may increase the susceptibility or severity of patients with oral diseases,and increase the risk of treatment of oral diseases.On the contrary,the treatment of oral diseases can affect the state of the whole body.It should make a clinical risk assessment based on the patient's general condition,and finally formulate a reasonable and safe treatment plan.Case 1 was a patient referred to our department for oral examination before radiotherapy.Before radiotherapy,tooth extraction and periodontal basic treatment have been finished.During radiotherapy,it is need us to deal with the treatment of caries,dental pulp and mucositis.After radiotherapy,it is important for patient to matain oral hygiene regularly.The whole process of emphasis the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene,it can reduce the complications of radiotherapy and improve the quality of life of patients.Case 2 was a patient with systemic lupus erythematosus who required root canal therapy.The patient took glucocorticoids for more than 20 years.All pulp cavities were calcified when they were showed by panoramic film.It is suggested that the long-term application of glucocorticoid may be associated with some oral diseases,which increases the difficulty of clinical treatment.
