| In recent years, along with the development of science and economy and technology, building a more comprehensive and multi-level Chinese medical security system has always been our focus. As one of the most densely populated countries in the world, the huge cost of medical care, health, and old-age care, and the lack of comprehensive health care,we have to reserve a lot of life while enjoying a richer and superior life.Risk savings in case of emergency. At the same time,it is accompanied by many factors such as the deviation of medical reform and the increase of income gap among residents in the process of urbanization.Under the current basic medical insurance system for residents, the problem of “difficulties and high expense in medical care” is serious.Medical expenses are growing too fast, the burden on patients is increasing, and the contradiction between doctors and patients is intensifying. It is difficult to give enough people to rely solely on broad coverage and basic medical insurance.A sense of security.Since the 1990 s,it has become an indisputable fact that the consumption trends of Chinese residents have decreased and the savings rate has increased.Residents do not dare to spend, they have to save in order to become a social norm in the future. As a social stabilizer and an economic shock absorber, medical insurance affects residents’ consumption decisions. When residents begin to reduce consumption and increase preventive savings, one of the important factors behind the refraction is that the imperfect medical insurance system has brought about an increase in the uncertainty of life and lack of security for residents. Therefore, residents’ stability in the future. The need for supplementary medical insurance.Supplementary medical insurance,as a powerful supplement to basic medical insurance,is conducive to improving the level of medical insurance for insured persons, but whether it can promote consumption and optimize consumption structure requires further analysis. This paper uses the 2016 Chinese Family Panel Studies(CFPS)to solve the model endogeneity problem by using PSM(Propensity Score Matching)treatment method. The empirical analysis of the impact of supplementary medical insurance on China’s total consumption and consumption structure. The article is divided into six parts: From first to the third part introduce the research content, ideas and methods of this paper on basis of the detailed status of supplementary medical insurance and the literature review at home and abroad. Then the fourth part introduces the empirical model in detail, the data used and the basic ideas of the PSM method, and explains the method of selecting the article variables and the descriptive statistics of the variables. The fifth part carries out the regression estimation after the matching regression analysis and the propensity score matching, and expounds the impact of supplementary medical treatment on the total consumption and consumption structure of residents. The empirical results show that participation in supplementary medical insurance has a significant role in promoting the total consumption of urban and rural residents, but the promotion effect on various types of consumption is different. It is reflected in the promotion of the total consumption of rural residents is stronger than that of urban residents, and the optimization effect on the consumption structure of urban residents is more significant than that of rural residents. The results show that supplementary medical insurance can effectively reduce residents’ preventive savings and optimize the consumption structure of residents. On this basis, the article finally puts forward policy suggestions on how to further develop the supplementary medical insurance in China. The innovation of this paper is in two aspects. On the one hand,it uses the tendency score matching method in the empirical process to effectively solve the model endogeneity problem, which makes the validity of the empirical result greatly improved, and thus obtains a more accurate impact result. On the other hand, there are few papers research the relationship between supplementary medical insurance and residents’ consumption structure in China. The research in this paper can provide theoretical support for supplementary medical insurance to some extent. |
